Charlie is proud to present The second Annual CLUNKER CLASSIC

In a bygone age (last July) brave warriors with Black Sabbath tunes in their heads gathered on the sacred Exmoor hills, gazing upon the sleepy village of Porlock. No one knew what was about to befall them, for what was unleashed upon the world that day was…..clunker classic carnage! It’s a bit like DH rural robot wars. And this July we’re doing it all over again. The Clunker Classic starts on Saturday 12th July with lunch in a nice pub, followed by a 5 mile ride/push/rest up 1700 feet to the top of Exmoor where we stop for more refreshments. It’s a Le Man race start followed by a 5 mile downhill, complete with super technical sections, stream crossings and high speed whooping fire roads. The only rule is that you have to race on an old or inappropriate bike. We’re talking choppers, shoppers, postie bikes, beach cruisers, tandems, BMXs, anything but not a proper MTB. To give you an indication of what to expect this year, last year:      The weather was fantastic       We had an international field of over half a dozen competitors       We had a spectator       Only three bikes rolled across the line - seven started.       The guy who came third, ran the last two miles!       The prize giving ceremony lasted ‘til after closing time.        No one died        No one even went to casualty No entry fees, no insurance, just a bunch of people on old bikes. Accommodation is “Springfield” a nice and basic campsite very near the village (no yellow people though). Pack a picnic for the top of the hill. Pack tools and spare tubes for the way down. Wear a helmet. Feel free to dress for the occasion (Tom Ritchey tash/flares/sideboards). We even have a trophy. If you fancy getting back to basics, all you need to do is root around in the shed/garage/skip/museum and get yourself either an old or inappropriate bike. nothing draws a crowd like a crowd. this stuff is getting out of hand. i love it !

looking into the results, however un-important they are, but nice for bragging rights. last year almost every one won some sort of award for "first ever clunker classic..." i guess jared won most improved ? grr-eat ! not even sure how many people finished. looking into it !

here is jared pushing "slug stomp"(we have pictures now ! ooh !) it is the front end of "curbstomp" mounted to a crappy  and heavy full suspension bike. it is bascially a missle to be aimed instead of a bike to be ridden.

here is jared rockin' out on "slug stomp" a new form of super tuff "uber-chopper" this one, however, has no seat post clamp and a VERY cross threaded axle nut keeping the left crank on. amazing !

a day with out blood is like a day with out sunshine. and my friends the sun was shinning for the second annual klunker klassic !

here is chris and, who i am told, jay. "jay" has one of those new-fangled mountian bikes. they have nice breaks on the front AND rear wheel, shocks, little rake, and comfy seats. they'll never catch on !
